Our three favourite spots
Grab a canoe, pack your lunch, and pick your spot. We’ve mapped out three favourite picnic destinations, all reachable by paddle or on foot.
1. Keizerspark & Metzelerfabriek
1 km · 20 min paddling
Dock at the ponton close to WAY coffee roasters & Bar BASK. From there, you can picnic in the shadow of the old Metzelerfabriek chimney or take a short stroll to the Keizerpark. Two spots for the price of one 😊
2. Kantienberg
1 km · 20 min paddling
Step ashore at the ponton next to De Geus van Gent bar, and walk 5′ to the gardens of the Sint-Pietersabdij. One of the most beautiful and best-kept picnic spots in Ghent.
The garden is accessible via the large green gate in the abbey façade on Sint-Pietersplein (no.12-15), or through the main entrance of Sint-Pietersabdij (no. 9).
Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 – 18:00. During November, December, January, and February, the abbey garden closes at 17:00.
3. De Krook
1.9 km · 30 min paddling
The longest stretch, but worth it. Dock at the green pontoons next to De Krook, right in the heart of the city, steps away from Wintercircus and all the good things that come with it.
